My Favorite Films of 2010

1/1/2011-does that sound like a good or bad day for a birthday?

The nearest movie theater to me is the auditorium of the Detroit Institute of Arts. This partially explains why so many of these films are foreign or arty.

But little can explain why after four years with a blog, I still can't manipulate pictures on it!!!

Is today your birthday or did I read it wrong? In case it is, hope it's a great one.

We're way behind on the movies but hope to catch up with most of these by the time we get back from Florida in early March.

THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT was pretty good, of the few we have seen.

Did you see CITY ISLAND?

Have a great time in FLA, Jeff. Yes, we did see it and I liked it. I was troubled by the son's problem and how they used it as a topic of humor though.
Yep, it is my birthday.

We were just discussing that this morning - whether it is better to be born 12/31 or 1/1. Certainly for tax purposes, it's better to have a child on New Years Eve.

PS - Jackie is still bothered that Julianne Moore slept with him.

I am still bothered that they discarded him so cavalierly in the end. He wanted to be part of their family and they just used him-three times.

Happy Birthday Patti:

I think that The King's Speech will win it all at this year's Acadamy Awards.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ! ! !

I guess mine was AVATAR, I had none of the problems that so many viewers and reviewers did with the plot, I just watched - in IMAX 3-D and enjoyed the heck out of it.

At least your graphics don't disappear like they do on my blog all of the time, Patti. I liked several of your choices.

I saw about half of those. Didn't care much for The Kids Are Alright. Would have added A Prophet, Shutter Island, Social Network,Scott Pilgrim and my 2 guilty pleasures=Kickass and Machete.
Richard-Avatar was 2009.
Still resisting the Kings Speech. Can't get worked up over the subject matter and it's pnly playing at the Maple-my least favorite theater.

Steve-I saw it at the MJR in Sterling Heights. It was so-so for me. Great acting, predictable plot.
I fell asleep with Social Network after taking an antihistamine. Haven't seen THE PROPHET.
I think Firth will win, Chuck. But I think TOY STORY 3 might win.
Thanks, Rick. Avatar was an amazing movie.

Cool list. I dig it~ there's a new Javier Bardem flick I'd like to see, as well.

Me, too, Erik.

And, belatedly, happy birthday, Patti!

And I think that, in THE KIDS, the sperm donor wasn't used so much as overstepping bounds...as were the married couple, but theirs was the core family bond.
