MTM -- Helen Pearson, Eye on Detroit

Boarded up car-dealers from the camera of Helen Pearson.

.

Helen Pearson, a rising photographer, lives in New York nowadays, but her soul remains in Detroit.

Her website is filled with great photos of Detroit. Here are a few she took over Thanksgiving weekend. They make clear the dilemma Motown is facing with the possible collapse of the Big Three.
GM in the Renaissance Center hovers over a city on the brink.

Pearson's photos reflect cogently GMs' shaky position in and at the heart of Detroit, a decaying city that counted on GM to stabilize it. Wrongly perhaps.

My mother told me years ago that there are times in peoples' lives where they needed fortitude to carry on. I think we've reached that time.
