About Me
Patricia Abbott is the author of more than 125 stories that have appeared online, in print journals and in various anthologies. She is the author of two print novels CONCRETE ANGEL (2015) and SHOT IN DETROIT (2016)(Polis Books). CONCRETE ANGEL was nominated for an Anthony and Macavity Award in 2016. SHOT IN DETROIT was nominated for an Edgar Award and an Anthony Award in 2017. A collection of her stories I BRING SORROW AND OTHER STORIES OF TRANSGRESSION will appear in 2018.
She also authored two ebooks, MONKEY JUSTICE and HOME INVASION and co-edited DISCOUNT NOIR. She won a Derringer award for her story "My Hero." She lives outside Detroit.

So many laughs from this legend of a show.
And what, 11 episodes.
This one never disappoints when I see it again. Especially this episode.
A long time favorite. They've tried to reproduce it several times for American audiences(John Larroquette, Whoopi Goldberg) and fell on their faces.
He's irreplaceable in this.
Brilliant. And so good to hear a live audience. Who watches those sitcoms today where every line gets a jolt of canned laughter no matter what.
And I hate that some older shows get the canned laughter treatment when they return.
A favourite with the family along with TO THE MANOR BORN (Penelope Keith and Peter Bowles) and ARE YOU BEING SERVED?
There are a couple of episodes in the second series that are a bit tedious but overall the quality can't be beat. And there are so many gems! The Germans, Gourmet Night, etc etc.
"That laugh. It sounds like someone machine gunning a seal."

ANother great line in that episode is when Basil looks at the nurse treating Sybil and says, "My God, you're ugly, aren't you?" as if he expects her to agree with him.
