MY Life at the Theater-Gypsy
Saw it with Tyne Daily on Broadway in the early nineties and then again at the Shaw Festival a few years ago. Although this has some of the greatest music in any musical, it relies too heavily on one performance--and it relies too heavily on actresses like Patti Lupone, Tyne Daily, Bernadette Peters and Ethel Merman to play Rose. Nobody else ever comes to life in the musical for me. They just pale in Rose's blinding light.
Music A; Book C.
But Some People, Let Me Entertain You, Small World, Everything's Coming Up Roses, Together Wherever We Go, Hard to beat. Styne and Sondheim were a winning combo.
So why did I see it twice? Shrug.

Patti - Oh that show does have a great soundtrack...
We've also seen it multiple times: Angela Lansbury in London, Tyne Daly and Patti LuPone on Broadway (1973, 1990, 2008 respectively).
