Duets

Linda Ronstadt and Emmy Lou Harris

This is one of my favorite duets. I play it often.

What duet do you especially like?

I like these two a lot. I have the CD with this song on it. Great stuff.

The unexpectedly sublime pairing of Nick Cave and Kylie Minogue, though of course Cave with PJ hypnotic.

Cave sounds good with anyone.
I have the CD too and it's hard to choose a favorite.

k. d. lang and Roy Orbison.

I don't think I ever heard that one, George. Is it a whole CD or one song?

What George said. lang did "Crying" and they sang stuff together.

You can't go wrong with Linda & Emmylou. They also did a "Trio" album with Dolly Parton.

There is a great duet of Michael McDonald & Phoebe Snow doing "Knock on Wood" on the NY ROCK & SOUL REVUE album from the early '90s, with Donald Fagen and Boz Scaggs.

The RHYTHM COUNTRY AND BLUES album has several fascinating duets, of which my favorites are Sam Moore & Conway Twitty doing "Rainy Night in Georgia" and Little Richard & Tanya Tucker on "Somethin' Else."

You posted one if my favorites just last week: Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazelwood singing "Summer Wine." K.D. Lang and Tony Bennett did an album together called "A Wonderful World," which has some lovely songs on it. My favorite is "A Kiss to Build a Dream On," but they're all good.

Paul Simon and Art Garfunkle.

Hard to beat the two of them.

Linda Ronstadt and Aaron Neville.

The oddest duo we saw in concert - each did his own set but they did duets on 2-3 songs - was Bob Dylan and Paul Simon. Did not really work.

k. d. lang and Roy Orbison are on YouTube. There was a CD, but I suspect it's no longer available. Everything is on iTunes today.

The Everly Brothers, of course. If you mean non-regular pairings, I liked Stevie Nicks and Tom Petty.

I saw an exhibit at a museum in CA on the Everly Brothers. I don't have a real strong memory of them for some reason. I think I was listening to my teen centered singers then.
