Your Favorite Sandwich?

Kieran was talking about a great meatloaf sandwich, which reminds me of a new one I have come up with that I have had almost every day. I alternate it with cheerios for lunch for weight control.

It is a slice or three of avocado, some freshly cut parm-reg cheese, a slice of an heirloom tomato (or the best one available) on thinly sliced multi-grain bread. The avocado stands in for mayo or mustard. All you need it a few cranks of the pepper mill and you will be in heaven.

This graphic omits the cheese. Don't. If you want to be bad, add some bacon.

What's your favorite sandwich?

A boiled egg sandwich with cheese or cheese spread. I carry it in my tiffin to office twice a week.

Nice. Love avocado.

But of course I don't have one favorite sandwich these days. As a kid I did - peanut butter & jelly on white bread, which I'd happily eat every day.

One of my favorites is chicken, avocado, tomato, black beans on a wrap with sundried tomato sauce on the side.

But I'm easy - chicken salad, tuna salad, egg salad, BLT, grilled cheese (preferably with tomato or bacon), etc. Another favorite is grilled chicken with mozzarella and roasted peppers on French bread.

My god, that sandwich would put me off eating for a month. I am shuddering! :)

You think "Days of Beer" was foreign to you. An avocado sandwich isn't even an earth based product surely.

My favorite sandwich, Roast beef poboy.

A fully-dressed (lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, mayo) fried oyster po-boy if I'm at a restaurant that makes po-boys. At home, I like sharp cheddar and avacado on crusty French bread with jalapeƱo slices--a perfect compliment of flavors and textures.

A good BLT with plenty of B.

The crabcake po'boy we get at a place down on the Gulf Coast is mighty good, too.

Clamrolls are pretty great. Fried oysters may be my favorite food on earth.
And I wouldn't turn roast beef or any kind of po'boy down.
But in the midwest, any shell fish is scarce except for farmed shrimp, which ain't the same.
I could eat avocados at every meal. And if we get a bag at Costco, I do.

What you have there sounds great to me, with bacon, of course. A BLT or good Club is about my favorite. Once it would have been a Monte Cristo sandwich, but I've grown away from them. I also really like a French Dip.

I'm with Charles on the avocado. My favorite sandwich is a turkey club.

I like a turkey club as long as it's real turkey. Also roast beef with au jus (had one this week) and love a shrimp po'boy.

Lobster roll, hands down for my all-time favorite. Second place would go to a hot Italian sausage sub, either in sauce or with peppers and onions. third place would go to whatever sandwich happened to be in my hands at any given moment.

I think it has been a least a decade since I had lobster. Like clubs but the extra piece of bread is a killer. Is it a club with only two pieces? Will check out Zonker Harris. Cheesesteaks are right up there with sausage and meatball.

My wife loves peanut butter, pickle and mayonnaise. I prefer cheddar and friend egg on homemade bread with a dash of cayenne for seasoning.

Wasn't that Elvis' favorite, Loren?

Turkey, stuffing, and jellied cranberry sauce with mayo and mustard on white bread.

That's a good one after Thanksgiving.

I nuke some ham, add it to a bagel that's been plastered with cream cheese, put some pepper on it, and YUM!

A couple of times a year I treat myself to a chopped liver sandwich on rye bread with mustard. One time when I went to purchase one at a Jewish deli near where I worked, the woman behind the counter asked me if I wanted tomato on it. I couldn't imagine it, but agreed to try it when she promised me that I wouldn't be sorry. For some reason the contrast between the chopped liver and the tomato works so it's become a favourite sandwich. I also like a Montreal smoked meat sandwich with mustard and a dill pickle on the side. And you can't go wrong with a grilled cheese sandwich when you need comfort food and I loved the first shrimp po'boy I had in Florida a couple of years ago.

I'd consider adding hummus to your pictured sandwich, but otherwise it looks pretty good.
