Shakespeare Uncovered

I am very excited to learn that a new series on Shakespeare begins tonight on PBS. It will examine six of his plays, beginning with MacBeth, and then show new versions of four. What better to do on a rainy (or cold) Friday night.

Here is some info.
This picture accompanies the story in the NYT.

Why hasn't PBS been promoting this? Everytime I tune in, they're running endless promos for Downton Abbey or Call the Midwife (I could write a book about how utterly wrong the tone of that show is, but I digress), but this is the first I've heard of a new Shakespeare program.

I know. If I didn't get the NYT I never would have known. Couldn't even find it easily on their website.

Patti - Thanks for sharing. That sounds great.

I happened to catch a few minutes by accident last night. What with the unpacking and shopping there wasn't much TV time.

Try Florida next time, Patti. It's supposed to be 78 and beautiful today.

Avoid Florida! And be aware that considerably more than four plays will be covered, though four will each get their own episodes of this six-part series.

CALL THE MIDWIFE did well for PBS, and MASTERPIECE packages of DOWNTON ABBEY are beating commercial networks and delivering the best ratings for PBS primetime since THE CIVIL WAR, hence the lopsided promo.

Oh, sorry, misread. It will cover more than six of the plays, I should've written...but nothing in full will be presented...
