Western noir is the new hot genre. I think Ace Atkins said it somewhere yesterday but I'm stealing the line.

Got my copy last night, very much looking forward to it. Westerns... there must be something in the air, because I just started writing one myself... weird.
DEADWOOD first impressed on me the relationship between good, honest Westerns and contemporary crime stories (noir, if you will). Reading Elmore Leonard's complete Western stories a few years ago cemented the link, as it showed me the similarities between those stories and his more recent crime fiction. Westerns and noir are a natural fit.
