I saw him debut this at the Grammys. Classic Paul.

I hadn't heard this song before. I like the McCartney-Lennon number "Hey Jude". It's supposed to be one of his best songs.

Happy Firefox/Blogger noncommunication ate my response, which was that, indeed, Prashant, this was one of the better McCartney solo songs for the Beatles that they were still publishing as collaborations, even though the duo barely collaborated by those years. My own favorite McCartney Beatles song is probably still "Got to Get You Into My Life" among a small slew of others...and I'd say that even with some good post-Beatles work, he could've used the continuing challenge if they got on better. But, then, who would've guessed that in the first months after the breakup of the band the member producing work with the best balance of pop songcraft and artistry would be Mr. Starkey? Being the least bitter and angry probably helped, and perhaps also that his minor but not terrible acting career was already underway, as well.

"This" being "Hey Jude," that is...

McCartney wrote "Hey Jude" for the young Julian Lennon, seeing his parents divorce, though John Lennon initially thought McCartney had written it to and for the elder JL.
