I remember watching "Grease" from the front row of a crowded multiplex with my kids and loving the opening. (Though I don't remember the animation, just the wonder of the song.) Thanks for the memory.
I must admit I was not/am not a fan of this one. Stockard Channing as a 34 year old high school student (who can't sing) is just embarrassing.
But the real reason is, we saw the real Grease in its original off-Broadway production at the Eden Theater off-Broadway in 1972, with Barry Bostwick as Danny Zuko and Adrienne Barbeau as the toughest Rizzo ever. Unlike the cartoonish movie this was more like what the real 50's greasers were like. Get the original cast album. Trust me, it is a lot better.

It might be better but this is the one I saw so it will always be my "Grease."
