If Christina were born a few months later Kitty would have named her Jolene. She loves that song.

It's my favorite by Dolly. So full of passion.

Although I bet Christina is glad she didn't. My mother almost named me Danita until my grandmother talked her out of it.

Sorry, this is one I can't stand, but I'm not at all a Parton fan, either.

We could get into a whole naming discussion.... Jackie said when her youngest sister was born, her mother had been going to name the baby Harry if it had been a boy. Jackie (who was 7 at the time) was furious at the choice of such an "old-fashioned" name (this was the mid-50s). Her mother said, "Gary's a nice name, Barry's a nice name, what's wrong with Harry?" But (fortunately, in Jackie's estimation) it was a girl. I must admit I did have grandfathers and uncles of that generation named Harry.

Still, better than Jolene in my opinion. It's OK but far from a favorite of mine.

We are on the same wave length this week. I don't care much for country generally, but something about this song has always appealed to me. She visualizes "Jolene" so well. And that name choice was inspired. Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Joleeene!!!

I like the impassioned nature of Jolene.
We were surprised when my son, Josh, and his wife named their son Kevin. Forever after every one assumes Kevin is Josh and Josh Kevin when they seem their names on a form. Kevin was a name from the 70s, 90s and Josh a name from post 2000. Even people who know them both mix it up.
