Kevin at 10 months

We'd both forgotten just how busy at 10 month old is. Over a period of several hours yesterday and the day before, he never stopped moving. It's part of the code, I guess, to want to move and climb every minute. I actually heard Issac Asimov discuss it once in terms of eventually getting off this planet when we need to.
Whereas Kevin used to like to sit in laps and be read to, now he wants to throw the book and crawl after it. I was a mother a 22 and a good thing because it much harder for my son and his wife in the mid-thirties.
Hey parents of young children out there. Did you ten month olds never stop moving or do we have to worry about those alphabet prognoses?

He is adorable, Patti!!

My 10-month-old is so busy that he fights naps way harder than he should. :P I was looking back in his brother's baby book, and although he was a better napper, the rest of the time he wouldn't stop going either. Climbing, pushing his walker... yup. He's a busy boy.

I was hoping to hear from you. And I feel better to know there are two crazy ten month olds out there. He hates sleeping altogether, Has to be tricked into it.

I wouldn't say "tricked." I'd say "ridden out." Often I nurse, put him in his stroller (in the house) to rock him, take him out, nurse him again, let him play, change his diaper, nurse him again, wear him... at some point I know he'll fall asleep, but it just takes so much time getting him there! Ugh!

One of my good friends says her son was the same way, and around a year changed his pattern altogether - he would go down for a good solid 3-hour nap, which he took until he was 3 1/2. I could deal with that. My older boy dropped all naps when he was 2, so I'd love to have a long-term napper - though I fear the opposite: his father, who dropped all naps when he was 1!

My boys were big movers at ten months and haven't quit going since (they're now 10 and 3 years, respectively).

My daughter was easier to handle, she was a little more sedate.

Holy cow, Christa. I think you and mu daughter-in-law are the same person. Sounds like her routine.
Graham-You look like you about 25 years old. How could you have a ten year old? Yeah, girls are more sedate but then they turn around and write scary stories later and get even.

I was 31 when the photo I use in my profile was taken (though I still look more or less the same - more gray, less hair) but in 14 months I'll be 40.

In three months, I'll be sixty so you're a kid to me.

Ssh. Don't tell the boys, but I'm on to them. They're actually part of a top secret military psyops experiment: the effects of non-sleeping babies on their mothers. If we can eradicate all naps in the countries of our enemies, WE WILL WIN.

Or at least the babies will think so. :P

When Emanuel was 10-months old, he couldn't sit too long before wanting to get down and move. (His sisters, same way.) But the boy was worse. He was a militant, anti-napper, until one day by coincident a hair dryer popped on and the little shit fell fast a sleep. We spent a small fortune on white noise. As a side note, he always cried when George Bush was on TV.

Wishing I was 22 again!

That white noise idea is a good one. Have to suggest that one, Pat.
