Sharon Isbin Plays Rodrigo

A four-star salute to Sharon Isbin, classical guitarist, who we heard play the music of Rodrigo at the DSO last night. We had 12 row center seats as the first part of our $100 buck package for six events. Symphony, play, opera, chamber music, movie, dance. It's called the Detroit Passport to the Arts and what a deal! Detroiters-come on out.

I have all of Sharon Isbin's CDs. She's great! I wish she would visit my area soon. I'd be the first in line for concert tickets.

That's a great price! If I lived in Detroit we could fight for a place in the concessions line.

Man! That's awesome. I really like her Journey to the Amazon CD. The Rodrigo piece is sublime.

It was even better in person. She managed to make every pluck of the string count yet integrate them at the same time if that makes sense. Her delicacy and lyricism was incredible.

Hi Natalie-We loved it, came home with her CDs in fact. Thanks for a great incentive to visit these venues.

I have let myself be too busy and often found myself a bit strapped (paying off the car and all that life business) of late, but need to begin getting back into that swing...at the Academy of Music a decade back, a performance of THE MARRIAGE OF FIGARO put the orchestra on the audience floor directly in front of Alice and myself, in the front row, since the small pit couldn't hold a full orchestra, and that was fascinating visually as well as aurally (I've played, poorly, in student orchestras, but had never been so close to an orchestra of budding pros previously).
