This story resonates with me because a friend was shot to death in a convenience store robbery(graveyard shift)ten years ago. He was raising a son alone after the mother bailed for parts unknown. The killer was caught and, at the trial, somehow managed to be convicted of robbery, but not murder.
This is a good story, but Jon Cunningham can READ. I've heard Mickey Spillane speak, and he reminded me a little of him. Not as gravelly as Spillane, but the cadence and expression.

That is so sad. Well that's another story I'm tempted to try. Actually the Reasoner story inspired me to write one set in convenience store.
