Ten Favorite Movies of 2022

Probably several of these would not have been on this list on a more normal year. But you work with what you have....

In no particular order

Tar

Mothering Sunday

The Banshees of Inisherin

Armageddon Time

Causeway

Top Gun: Maverick

The Fabelmans

God's Country

Lady Chatterley's Lover

Good Luck to Leo Grande

Runnersup: After Yang, The Wonder, The Glass Onion, Bad Axe

I have seen surprisingly few new movies so far this year, and peeling them out of memory is going to take a bit...I just started EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE the other day in on demand, got about a half hour in before needing to go do something else...despite being a great fan of Michelle Yeoh, who was impressive, and while I think I've enjoyed what I've seen so more than you did in your viewing, I can see why you might not've found it all that impressive, in terms of excessive cuteness. The "fun" of trying to dance between three languages was more amusing to me, perhaps, than it might be to some, as well, as someone who has had my occasional experience in trying to translate in my insufficient Spanish and smattering of Japanese, Mandarin, Italian et al.

Definitely mean to see TAR, BANSHEES and a few others. The only film I've seen in a theater for the last several years remains a revival of HOWL'S MOVING CASTLE with Alice and a quartet of young women, maskless, who plopped down next to me on the other side from Alice in a nearly empty theater.

I need to see EEAAAO again. The first showing I was overwhelmed by the martial arts and couldn't see past it.
I still haven't caught up with After Sun and Decision to Leave among others.

We so rarely watch movies these days I doubt we've seen more than a dozen all year. We do have THE BANSHEES OF INISHERIN on the DVR, and GLASS ONION is starting on Netflix today or tomorrow. Not enough money to make me sit through TOP GUN. I hated the first one.

OK, I did see more than a dozen. Most of the ones I enjoyed the most were documentaries, like THREE IDENTICAL STRANGERS and MISS ANGELA.

I forgot to include docs. Maybe another category. Dying to see the Nan Goldin one. Loved the Nancy Pelosi one.

I haven't seen any of the movies yet but I would like to see TOP GUN: MAVERICK. Never saw the first one but I think this one would be interesting. Also want to see GLASS ONION soon since it is now on Netflix.
