I knew a bartender-teacher in Detroit who served Joni Mitchell at a bar, and then ended up buying her apartment. That's his story and he's sticking to it -- until then end of the night, at least. Late 1960s, if memory serves.

She's certainly been one of the most influential female singer/song-writers to come out of that era.
