My Life at the Theater: Fosse

We saw a production of this in Chicago in 1999 at the Ford Center for the Performing Arts. It was one of the most sensational productions I've seen because every number had been choreographed by Fosse for various musicals-(Sweet Charity, Dancin' The Pajama Game, Kiss Me Kate). I doubt I ever saw better dancing than in this one.

Agreed. Saw it when toured through L.A. years ago. Fosse was pure genius. Now, just don't get me started on that hack Rob Marshall and his film adaptation.

Fosse was a genius. Also Twyla Tharp, Paul Taylor, Agnes DeMille. But Marshall--not so much.

Patti - Ah, yes, Bob Fosse! Truly a talent, no doubt about that. Thanks for sharing this.

We saw FOSSE too, but in London in 2000. Jackie used to use Fosse-like choreography when directing shows her classes put on in school, perhaps a little odd for second and third graders!

The man was indeed a genius. We saw the ahead-of-its-time original 1975 production of CHICAGO with Gwen Verdon, Chita Rivera and Jerry Orbach as well as the still-running revival.

Would have loved to see six year olds performing these numbers. We saw CHICAGO with Orbach but not Verdon. Have to look for that program.
