My Life at the Theater: Wonderful Town

Saw this in 2004 at the Al Hirschfield Theater in New York. Starred Donna Murphy and sorry to say, I have little memory of anything other than great music by Bernstein, Comden and Green.
Maybe that's enough along with Murphy's dancing. It's basically the story MY SISTER EILEEN with music added.

Never did see this one. Did see Bernstein and Comden & Green's ON THE TOWN twice; also AN EVENING WITH COMDEN AND GREEN. And we saw Adolph Green's wife Phyllis Newman's one woman show, THE MADWOMAN OF CENTRAL PARK WEST.

That one I remember vividly, while the Comden & Green evening is a blank.

I have a CD of the broadway cast recording from the 50s but have never seen it staged worst luck - I love the 1955 versiom of MY SISTER EILEEN starring Betty Garrett and Jack Lemmon which also has som wonderful dancing by Bob Fosse and Tommy Rall.

Have only heard so far the Brubeck Quartet's version of one song from WONDERFUL TOWN on BRUBECK PLAYS BERNSTEIN PLAYS BRUBECK. I can remedy that soonly...perhaps in my recovery from finally getting some serious jaw cutting later this morning. (Nah. Not the best time to check out new music.)

Love the movie-it's just one of those movies you don't forget.
Take care, Todd. I am still a long way from BACK.
