I saw both PRIMETIME and THE SOCIAL RECKONING this week. Both were hard to watch but in different ways. Robert Pattinson is certainly a fine actor as he also was in THE DRAMA and THE ODYSSEY. But predators are a hard watch. As is Zuckerberg. After watching it I rewatched THE SOCIAL CONTRACT, a far better film.
Enjoying EAST OF EDEN, PROFESSOR T, SLOW HORSES, TED LASSO.
Finished KIN which was a good novel and am now reading UNDER THE FALLS, Richard Russo. Both for my book groups.
Friday, we are going to Madison to see Kevin so no forgotten book for me but I will post on Monday.
What are you up to?

I know what you mean, Patti, about films that are hard to watch even though they are very well made. . I'm glad you've been enjoying your TV viewing, and I hope you have a safe trip!
Have a miserable cold since yesterday and didn't sleep much last night, so back later.
Good news that Jerry and his family came through the hurricane unhurt.
Not totally unhurt, Jeff; I got a tiny scratch while removing debris from the back yard.
So, we made it through Isaiah. Lost power for two days and are still under a water-boil watch. Lots of trees down, but Gulf Breeze -- in the direct path of the storm -- was pretty lucky. The local police station, where Christina was working during the storm, lost all power, communications, and water...and then their generator died; Christina was reduced to taking information on pen and paper as residents telephoned the emergency number, then handing them over to a co-worker who had to text the information to the officers on duty. The day after the storm, Senior felt very bad, so Walt took him to the local hospital where it took a full day to release him; chaos reigns during an emergency but the hospital staff did a valiant job under very stressing conditions. Everyone in the family -- Jessie, Kaylee, Amy, Erin, and Mark -- made it through unscathed, although Kaylee and Amy are still without power. Call us lucky.
Beyond that, it was a boring week, during which I read two more books b y Preston & Child (CRIMSON SHORE and THE OBSIDIAN CHAMBER) and one by Child solo (THE FORGOTTEN ROOM). I also began catching up on my Max Allan Collins reading, finishing BABY, IT'S MURDER, the final Mike Hammer novel written from Mickey Spillane's notes, and ANTIQUES ROUND-UP, the 20th in the Trash 'n' Treasures series by "Barbara Allan" (Collins and his wife Barbara) -- two completely different and well-recommended novels. I finished the International Thriller writers anthology, BIRDS OF PREY, edited by Harlan Coben and C. J. Box, s well as the latest HARD CASE Crime graphic novel, THE LOOSE END by David Dwonch. Because we had no power, I did a lot of reading by flashlight, as if I were a ten-year-old kid again, buy this time I did not have to hide underneath the bedcovers.
One thing Isaiah did not blow away: my wish that you have a wonderful week, Patti. Stay safe.
Diane's sister, Carol, visited Western NY this weekend. She'll be headed back to Ohio today. Carol picked a nice weekend: sunny and cool with the Fall foliage looking great !
Patrick is in Rome, Italy. Yesterday he visited Pompeii. Katie is in New York City. She saw The Rocky Horror Show with friends.
I am yearning for a frost to zap all the pollen and mold in the air. I'm stuffy and uncomfortable every time I leave the house.
Glad Jerry House and his family are safe!
Lots of colds going around. Hoping I can dodge it for this Madison trip. There are some wonderful lanterns now, Jerry, that light up an entire room. Enbrighten works well. I thought hurricane season might pass with FL unscathed.
I take a Claritin every day. That can't be a good idea.
I was also glad to hear that Jerry and all of his family escaped any serious physical harm during the storm. Sorry about the problems with fences and downed trees, though. And that Kaylee and Amy still are without power. That is always such a pain.
Patti, have a good trip to Madison and a nice visit with Kevin. I haven't read much by Russo and I want to read more.
We have guests coming tomorrow (just for one night) and are frantically cleaning and we hate to clean. Plus I have stacks of books around from the book sale and I have to deal with at least some of them today.
We are watching Season 5 episodes of PROFESSOR T, and the latest season of GOOD SHIP MURDER. Also MURDER IN A SMALL TOWN and RIDE OR DIE. We have been watching COLUMBO a lot, and have about 10 or 12 episodes left. I think the last ones are not the best but I am still enjoying them.
Glen finished YEAR ZERO by Ian Buruma. Now he is reading DINNER WITH KING TUT (subtitle = How Rogue Archaeologists Are Re-creating the Sights, Sounds, Smells, and Tastes of Lost Civilizations). It has a strange structure. It is divided by historical time periods and there is historical information plus a fictional story for each section. It has a great cover but Glen does not care for the fictional parts.
I have been reading spy fiction novels lately. After finishing DOUBLE GAME by Dan Fesperman, I read THE OLIGARCH'S DAUGHTER by Joseph Finder. It is the first book I have read by him and I liked it a lot. Now I am reading THE SPY COAST by Tess Gerritsen. That one also has a Russian Oligarch in it but in a much smaller role... at least so far. Partially set in Maine, partially in London and Istanbul.
I had a health call from my mother on Sunday evening and drove down to IL this morning to assist. Fortunately, the issue at hand was described as "minor" but still requires some assistance.
I am STILL finishing up Pat Barker's REGENERATION. Barker's character conversations are really, really well done. I find myself reading slow to take imagine the cadence and emphasis.
I've been listening to the audio version of Garry Disher's new novel, SANCTUARY. I've had trouble finding Disher's work here in the U.S. There is another Australian author whose work I kept looking for and gave up when it was never published here. I should check for eBook editions.
I bought a barely used copy of 1812: WAR WITH AMERICA by Jon Latimer and told from the Brit perspective. Have not yet started.
Patti, if your weekend schedule is not already full I'm happy to swing by Madison and say hello over a coffee.
I just finished Professor T and will miss it. Hope it's been renewed.
We will only have Saturday there so I am afraid to make a commitment. We are hoping to participate in the NO KINGS day too. Thanks though.
I really liked EMPIRE FALLS and NOBODY's FOOL>
Thanks for the suggestions, Patti. I have a copy of NOBODY'S FOOL so I will plan to read that one soon.
No worries.
I had not realized the protest march was this weekend. My wife may want to go to that.
