Merry Christmas

Hoping your day is merry and bright. This was Christmas 2019. Glad we didn't know what was ahead.

Merry Christmas, Patti, I hope you have a lovely, peaceful day as you receive love from afar.

Merry Christmas to you, Patti. We will be having a quiet Christmas at home (we always do) watching movies. Last night we watched DIE HARD (set at Christmas) for the first time in years and enjoyed it once again. Today is PIRATES OF PENZANCE (with Kevin Kline and Linda Ronstadt) and THE FRIGHTENERS.

It is interesting to look back at the months before Covid-19 hit. I retired in December 2019 and I was so happy about that. Two years later life has been up and down so much I don't know how to feel, but I am grateful for the vaccines and some sense of protection.

@ Tracy: ‘‘tis better to be retired than not.

Rick, how true that is. I wish I could have done it sooner.

Better days and better years for us all.

Sitting on a couch as I type, between Alice playing a videogame and Ninja making her tail dance whenever I reach over to pat her, purring softly and apparently doing the feline meditation thing.

Things could be much worse, though I sure wish I'd gotten more done, better. We'll see how that goes.

I hope very much that 2022 treats you well, Patti. May you have peace, returning health, and the love of family. Thinking of you...

Hope your (and everyone else here) Christmas was good. Jackie has a list of Christmas movies and shows she likes to watch every year, and we got most of them done in the last two days (while she watched a couple of new Hallmark Christmas Movies in the afternoon). MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS was the first. I believe Margaret O'Brien (7 then, 84 now) is the Last Man Standing from that 1944 classic, which introduced "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" and "The Trolley Song" to the world. Yesterday it was LOVE ACTUALLY (though we have to fast forward through the parts she doesn't like, especially the porn movie stuff). The TV specials were the two GAVIN & STACEY Christmas Specials on Friday, THE GOOD LIFE and THE DARLING BUDS OF MAY (along with the new CALL THE MIDWIFE special) last night.

Patrick and Katie are meeting with vaccinated and Boosted friends today. Diane and I will be watching the Buffalo Bills play the New England Patriots, but we don't have a Good Feeling about this game.

The mountain of leftovers from Christmas dinner needs to be consumed. Hopefully Patrick and Katie's friends can make a dent in it.

Looking out our windows, it looks like April: no snow, no wind, plenty of green grass. What a crazy Winter!

Stay safe and stay well!

We got a white Christmas, rare here, and it’s beautiful. It around 29 now, so it’s sticking though it’s stopped coming down for the nonce. I got some books, new socks and a shirt. I gave Barbara a lambswool throw and other stuff. We had a nice lazy day and the snow started about 10pm and lightly fell all night.

You got snow in Oregon and we have 50 degrees and sunny in New York. I'll take it.
