We learned years ago that flying on Christmas Day itself worked a lot better than trying to fly a day or two before it, assuming flying can't be avoided. We flew to San Francisco three times to visit my parents when they lived nearby and never had a problem, other than American Airlines misplacing our luggage. But then, that happened with American more than once and the other times weren't on Christmas.
Christmas Day is not the panacea for travel it once was. I guess too many people got on to it and the prices this year were not much different than other days.
That was a great hack and I'll try it sometime if I need it. I will be traveling by public transportation which usually only has delays between connections. Unfortunately, there tend to be a lot of these. Also unfortunately, I am not aware of any bars en route. Actually, there will be one at a crucial point. Thanks for reminding me.

Good one.

My brother used to love to fly on Friday the 13th because many other folks wouldn't
This was 1985-95 when we flew on Christmas. I'm just glad we're not flying anywhere now, especially to Europe.
Although a lot of people would be glad they don't live in New York, LA or DC. No place is safe now.
I don't fly if it can be avoided at all, so for me it's emergency only. Barbara will fly, has no problem with it.

My only experience with a holiday delay I couldn't he into the bar!
