Favorite TV Shows of 2015

There is no doubt my TV watching has changed over the last decade. I barely know what shows are on the networks any longer. I might be missing something great, but there is just too much to watch to keep up with all of it. BLACKISH is one of my network exceptions. So too THE GOOD WIFE.

MODERN FAMILY, like BIG BANG, a show I liked a few years back, is a shuffle the deck show  now. Any episode is like any other episode. They do fine with their audience so why change? Knowing they have to pick single episodes for awards makes me wonder how do they do it?

At any rate, these are the TV shows I enjoyed most in 2015, They are in no special order.

 FARGO
 LOUIE
TRANSPARENT
 ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK
 THE GOOD WIFE
 BLACKISH
 THE LEFTOVERS
 THE AFFAIR
 MAD MEN
 RECTIFY
 BETTER CALL SAUL
 LONGMIRE

What am I missing?

Unlike most critics (and you, apparently) we are not enjoying FARGO anywhere near as much as season one. Without Billy Bob and Martin Freeman and the dark but crazy humor they brought, along with the wonderful performance of Allison Tolman as Molly, it just is not working for us this year. It is unrelenting nastiness, and the whole Ed and Peggy story line is just stupid start to finish. I don't care about them or what happens to them, It was all her fault in the first place and she dragged her husband down with her. Jeffrey Donovan plays a one dimensional psychopath.

So no, not feeling any affection for season two.

I am looking forward to the new season of AMERICAN CRIME (not to be confused with AMERICAN CRIME STORY).

ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK? It's OK. The book was a lot better.
THE GOOD WIFE? Who are they kidding? Peter is not going to be President or Vice President or anything else. Margo Martindale is wasted and Eli is annoying. But yes, we still watch it.
THE LEFTOVERS - I thought season two was a lot better than season one. The purgatory episode and the finale were excellent. I'm not sure if they will end it or where season three might go.
BLACKISH is the only sitcom we watch. Very funny.

We do watch QUANTICO and BLINDSPOT and iZOMBIE (I defy you to spot the hint of a New Zealand accent) and THE WALKING DEAD (but not the awful spinoff) and HOMELAND (not so great this season).

HOMELAND is just too close to reality now but Phil still watches it.

I'm with you on MAD MEN. LONGMIRE is on Netflix but I haven't found time to watch it.

there's some new comedy on I've watched a couple of times and liked. Life in pieces, I think. Other than that I haven't seen much. we watch the goldbergs, and I usually catch the new Big bang

oh and 99th precinct, I think

BLACKISH funny? From the promo clips I've seen it looks pretty awful to me. I am looking forward the THE EXPANSE.

HOUSE OF CARDS. The cast, headed by Kevin Spacey, is just great.

We thought season 3 of House of Cards was a downer, at least until Doug came back.

Jackie watched the first two series of Rectify but thought it was too depressing to keep watching without thoughts of suicide.

We tried with The Affair season 1 but they were such awful, unlikable characters that we quit watching.

I keep meaning to catch up with the new season of FARGO. I'll have more to say soon. I like rather than love BLACKISH (and LOUIE). One I've talked up before is MOZART IN THE JUNGLE...though they were made available on 23 Dec 2014...

Always did find BANG and MOD FAM pretty generic.

I've not seen MOZART IN THE JUNGLE but that reminds me of THE MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE which I finished watching last week. That was a good show.

The Middle. If you haven't tried it, do so. I think it was better a few seasons ago, but it's still good.

And get that fire and brimstone jackass off your blog, please.

Yes, like THE MIDDLE. I do forget to watch it though.
