Mancini never got enough credit for his varied output and this a classic example of a left-field project with Blake Edwards well beyond their usual light comedy fare.

The first time I saw this in the early '60s it really scared me. I haven't seen it in decades.

Both really good films, and the Mancini is great as usual. I wish someone would put out a box set of ALL of his music.
