My Life in the Theater: George Gershwin Alone

This has pretty much been playing nonstop since 2001. We saw it in 2003 in Ford's Theater in Washington D.C. How can any play with Gershwin's music not be wonderful. And it was. Hershey Felder does a great job with the character and the music. You can probably catch this one somewhere right now.

Rightly or wrongly, I credit Gershwin in my embracing music beyond rock, folk and the blues. Ella Fitzgerald Sings the George and Ira Gershwin Songbook was the start of it all. I've never looked back.

Yes, I like a Gershwin tune.

Love Gershwin, haven't seen this. Checked, not playing in the Portland area, or anywhere in OR as far as I can tell. Out here in the forested hinterlands, I guess.

I'm surprised Brian didn't let us know that Felder is married to a former Canadian prime minister. Well, now you know. Felder seems to be in Chicago an awful lot. Currently he's doing a one man show about a Civil War army medic who attended Lincoln on the night he was shot. Based on fact, intriguing story to dramatize. It has music, of course.
