Ocean City, New Jersey

We were a poor family. But every summer, for one week, we took a vacation at Ocean City, New Jersey. It was a family town, a place for people who wanted to spend time on a beach, to go to a modest amusement park at night, to go to a family restaurant.. No drinking, no gambling--the kind of place you could take your kids.

This is Ocean City, New Jersey today. There is no way, Ocean City, New Jersey, a half an hour south of Atlantic City is going to come back without help. Please donate to the New Jersey Food bank right here. Donate to the New York foodbank too.

What heart-breaking pictures. Not just the devastation, but the knowledge that even after the long, hard clean-up, things will take such a long time--if ever--to return to the way they were.

Patti - I am so upset about all of this. Thanks for helping share how it important it is that everyone pitch in.

It seems like those kinds of pictures are usually of Louisiana. Definitely a bad storm. I haven't heard much yet but I hope at least all the people have made it through.

With 8 million people still without power, the effects of Hurricane Sandy will take time to contend with. Donations to the American Red Cross will help, too.

Same goes for Atlantic City. Never will it be the same. They say that the 125 foot beachfront is now only 25 feet. Portions of the boardwalk are two miles away dumped in the middle of streets and people's lawns.

They may be able to use sand bars to improve it. Wildwood had great beaches, wonder how they fared.

So the idiot Romney thinks we should get rid of FEMA and outsource disaster relief to the states or better yet private business. So if we need $30 billion or more President Romney will say go f... yourself, not my job but here's a few bucks and a few cans?

This is just infuriating.

He's teetering on the brink of self-annihilation.

I know the GOP will accuse the Dems of making a political issue out if a national tragedy, but let's hear it for the competence, forethought, and preparation shown by this administration and FEMA--as far as I'm aware, no one on the flooded areas has had to wait on a rooftop for 36 hours waiting for rescue because the president was too busy on his stair master to be interrupted with bad news.

Also the Dems should be running split-screen ads showing images if FEMA helping flood victims with Romney saying we've got to get rid of FEMA. I know it's a minor concern when your neighborhood has washed away, but how will these millions of people be able to vote on Tuesday??
