One might almost suggest that it should be a Rodia Award in this case (who Joyce?), and that if Detroit upon return looked worse or even more run down than Tulsa...wow.

There is enough empty land in Detroit to put the city of Paris in. There is no way I can show you the state of things here.

You don't have to. I saw Baltimore in the early '90s. HOMICIDE and THE WIRE didn't quite get at the utter desolation inland. We'd drive through what had been neighborhoods, now flattened as if by bunker-busters, and I said to Donna, Even the rats would have difficulty finding shelter here.
