He had a lot of great songs in his too-short life. I'll always wonder what really happened the night he was killed, too.

Amazing voice. Spike Lee made great use of that song at the end of MALCOM X.

I never get tired of listening to his Greatest Hits. "Bring It on Home to Me" has Lou Rawls singing backup.

There are some artists I never seem to recover from their deaths. I'll never stop wondering 'what might have been' about Sam, had he made it through all the changes he knew would come.

My mother's favorite singer. And after hearing him as a child, I knew why. Great, great song to spotlight him, patti.
