I was never into firecrackers. That was (and probably still is) my brother's bailiwick.
We've seen the big Macy's fireworks show but prefer the smaller, closer-in ones we've seen in places like Columbus, Ohio and Foster City, California (where my parents used to live).
My mistake - it was Shaker Heights where we visited friends that year, after they'd moved from Columbus.
Often we go to Yankee Stadium on the 4th but this year the Yankees are out of town. I don't mind because it's gotten so prohibitively expensive.
We went to the theater yesterday to see Jeff Key's one man show (which he wrote and starred in), The Eyes of Babylon: One Marine's Journey. It was the moving story about how he enlisted in the Marines at 33 (the year before 9/11) to serve his country, hiding his homosexuality, and his experiences in Iraq.
That's exactly what is is, or will be in a few hours, 80 and sunny. Perfect day here, absolutely perfect. I don't like he noise for the fireworks either, but Barbara just loves the stuff. Big show over the lake in Lake Oswego tonight.

I hate the noise of firecrackers. The soundless ones are best. Have a great day.
