Things That Are Making Me Happy

A great visit with some old friends. We saw a terrific little play called HOW TO USE A KNIFE. Not cheerful but thought-provoking. Purchased tkts to THE RHINOCEROS for Valentine's Day.

The weather is perfect-a little warm for Michiganders but still...

Reading LAIDLAW, which I have always meant to read. Had to put aside Ruth Rendell when I realized I had already read it. I reread books but don't like being caught unaware.

Happy our friends Lainie and Arnold made it down to Delray Beach despite the snowstorms in MI.  Too far to hook up with them but we will all be back in Michigan soon.

What about you?

I like your 'happy' list, Patti. I'm happy because I just saw the proofs for the cover of my upcoming book. The designer did a wonderful job!

That's great, Margot. What is the title?

I'm happy that a "February Thaw" will melt a lot of our snow later this week.

We saw WAITRESS: THE MUSICAL over the weekend. My review will be up on my blog tomorrow. Fun!

Diane is enjoying the OLYMPICS especially the skating.

I bought Diane a funny Valentine. I'm taking Diane out for dinner at her favorite local restaurant on Valentine's Day. A harp player will be entertaining us while we eat!

I am very happy I have a working snow blower.
I've been watching and enjoying the second season of THE COLONY on Netflix.
I finished John McFetridge's second novel in his Doughtery series set in Montreal. I have really enjoyed those two novels.
My children were happy for Friday's snow day. They stayed around and the house and did a whole lot of nothing.

John is the nicest guy too.
A whole lot of nothing-they are ready for retirement.

Looking forward to seeing Margot's cover.

This week happiness is schadenfreude. To wit, my top five:

1) Trump's bald spot
2) That shiny bare thing under Trump's hair
3) The emperor has no (or very little) hair
4) What's that thing blinding my eyes? Oh, it's just the sunlight reflecting off Trump's pate
5) Did I mention Trump's bald spot?

Have a great V-Day and a fantastic week, Patti!

Good one.

The weather, though it is a little warm for my taste. And yes, believe me I am happy to be out of the Northeast.

Plenty of movies to see, and nice comfortable places to see them. Last week it was HOSTILES - Jackie loved it, but it was a little dark for my taste - and the critically overrated (imho) DUNKIRK, which had some good points but was hardly Best Picture of the year. This week Jackie picked I, TONYA, with the Annette Bening/Gloria Grahame movie on deck.

Several books read. Plenty of walks in the area.

No flu.

Getting some time to read

That one pic I saw where the back of Trumps's was blowing up. Maybe it was photoshopped.
I was so-so on HOSTILES. Really did they expect him to successfully accompany them back home? Or was it to get rid of all of them. I, TONYA was more fun than I expected. Great acting from Robbie but i thought Janney overdid it.

Michigan weather sucks. I have a end parking spot and got plowed in. Had to borrow a shovel and dig myself out. Something I hate to do at my age.
Saw Call Me By My Name. Certainly not best picture of the year. Found it boring.
Loved Hostiles and I, Tonya.
Binge watched Babylon Berlin and rewatched Godless on Netflix. Impressed by both.
Reread a couple of early George Pelacanos. Never been disappointed in any of his books.
Read and liked Gone World, a cross between a mystery and SF.
Have 7 books on hold from the library. Just hope they don't all come in at once.

That happens so often. I put them on hold over many weeks and they all show up in one.
