One of my favorite movies and one of my favorite trailers. It actually lays the whole movie out. Is this a good idea? How much should you know about a movie ahead of time? Should they show the best scenes? What trailers were particularly good or particular bad.
The current trailer that most makes me want to see the movie is ZOOTOPIA, which looks like a lot of fun. Most of the others are noise and explosions, signifying nothing (to paraphrase).
I tend to hate trailers, though those for truly terrible films, such as REPTILICUS!, do save us some time in showing some of the most absurd bits in short form.
Rare is the trailer that actually makes me want to see a film.
Did you ever read the Bruce Jay Friedman source fiction for THE HEARTBREAK KID? I recommend his work to basically everyone.
I'll be honest, Patti. I do think sometimes trailers show too much. That said, though, I depend on them to decide whether I want to watch a film or not.
Margot, the reason trailers show too much is because in America people like to know exactly what they`re going to be seeing, they dont like surprises, they like their movies all mapped out for them before they even watch them.

Worst trailer for spoilers: PRIZZI'S HONOR.
Judy was a big fan of Charles Grodin. She loved his memoir titled IT WOULD BE SO NICE IF YOU WEREN'T HERE.
Disney has rolled out several STAR WARS trailers that built enthusiasm before last year's release. They excited the fans!

"Taps" (1981), great trailer, relatively mediocre movie.
