This tune has been a fave ever since I heard it "covered" by Jake & Elmo in THE BLUES BROTHERS. Oh, that whip cracking!

I was nine years old when Rawhide went off the air, and I still get that song as a periodic ear worm, and remember all the lyrics.

Frankie Laine became such an iconic voice, he was the first laugh in the movie Blazing Saddles, as soon as people recognized his voice signing the theme.

Oh, that's classic. And it reminds me of a funny scene in City Slickers in which it's sort of parodied.

Used to sing that around the house all the time. Still do on occasion.
