MEGAN ABBOTT (w) tBD (a) Cover by ESAD RIBIC • Acclaimed crime novelist and Edgar Award winner MEGAN ABBOTT (Queenpin, The End of Everything) takes on the Punisher! 32 PGS./EXPLICITY CONTENT...$3.99
'Explicit content"? Why, I'm shocked, Patti, absolutely shocked that YOUR DAUGHTER would do such a thing! Well, maybe not TOO shocked... okay, not shocked at all. But I will have to pick this one up. Sigh.
The regular Punisher character is a pretty blatant copy of The Executioner. The Punisher Max is a slightly different character . . . I think. Could be completely wrong about that. But I remember quite well buying the issue of THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN in which the Punisher was introduced. Got if off a spinner rack in a 7-11, as I recall, while running around in Fort Worth with a couple of buddies.
This is such a great bit of news. I'm always hoping someone brings the Punisher to Detroit because it seems like a city perfect for him. Maybe Megan's next go-round.
THE PUNISHER has been up and down, but the character ranks as one of my all-time favorites, going back to my high school years. I'll definitely be picking this one up.
Only know the Thomas Janes movie. But with Megan writing the story I'm sure he'll meet his match in some tough chick with a lethal love of guns and martial arts.

Had never heard of The Punisher until today.
"Had never heard of The Punisher until today."
Hah!
The lower-rent child of the Dark Knight version of Batman...or so I tend to think. MA's first comics scripting?

Patti - Oh, tres cool!
I liked THE PUNISHER movie, but it didn't make enough money for a sequel.
Oh my god, that's so cool! I love the Max version of the Punisher. Can't wait to see what Megan does with him.
Goddamn, this is so cool. Sold
Sounds totally cool.

I never read one until Gischler did a few and bought those for my library.
