This one was nominated for an Edgar as best first mystery novel in 1985, but lost to R,D. Rosen's Strike Three You're Dead. I've got that one in hardcover, but recently picked up a PB of the Early book because I remembered enjoying it when it first came out. I didn't know that Jack actually was Sandra, who I haven't read.

Patti - Times like this make me wish I had a portable E-Reader... Oh, well, I'll probably get one at some point.
The new iPads are being manufactured as you read this. I plan to buy one when they come out in March.
Wow, I've gotta check this out. I don't believe I've heard of this work. I've been picking up a lot of kindle stuff lately, even more than usual.

Loved her last two set in the forties and many of the others. Glad to find these "forgotten" books are becoming more widely available.
