Your Taste in Books
From Hannah Stoneham's blog :
"Simon at Stuck in a Book, who is the source of many good ideas, has had me wracking my brain for at least two days. His challenge for those who choose to accept it is to find an image which sums up one’s reading taste. If possible, we are to avoid including a picture of a book or a specific character."
Me, too. One of my favorite artists is Reginald Marsh, and this picture sort of embodies what I look for in a book. It's entitled "Merry Go Round" and it's dreamy, a bit out of focus, colorful, sinister, vague, and full of life.
What picture sums up your taste in books? Let me know if you post one.
For Rick, the Paris equivalent. I was waiting for someone to ask for something from the top.

Great choice!
Almost any Jack Vettriano painting would capture my taste in books, but I'll go with this one: http://farm1.static.flickr.com/63/199140155_a1d144a5ba_o.jpg
George, I bet Diane won't let you hang that one over the fireplace.
really good question. I never thought of it that way. Probably for me it would have to be a Frazetta painting. I posted one on my first Fantasy by Definition series. It's Frazetta's Death Dealer painting.
You win that bet, Patti!
Fabulous choice, Patti!
I've been trying to think of an image that conveys the idea of "diverse". Here's what I came up with. It's an old photo, but that's part of the message too, I read old stuff as well as new (the medium in which it is posted).

Whew. That's a challenge and I'm not sure (though I love art) I could think of one.
But your choice is superb.
Wow Patti - this picture is like an attack on my senses - such colour and more than a little confusion - fantastic and very evocative choice.
Rick-I'm not getting it but I will try again.
It only took me ten minutes to come up with it. If you like an artist, it probably expresses the type of books you like as well.

Here is that link again. It seems okay from this end.

Please remove the other link if it's not working. Sorry!
I'd go with Marc Chagall -- almost any work of his. Today I'll choose "I and the Village, 1911". Chagall's enthusiastic mix of magic and wonder and joy and mystery has always spoken to me. I tend to carry this mix into my reading, even into the darkest of books.
Yep, that's the idea, for certain. What a great picture! Thanks!
Love Chagall. And I am looking that one up.
Rick-they had some sort of huge festival for Pentecost. Sort of took us by surprise but we eagerly ate at their table.
I love Chagall too. Mine is Hopper's Nighthawks--not so original, but that's it.
I posted it on my blog. Interesting topic.
Patti - I love your pictures!!! But I'm pretty sure there is no picture that could sum up my taste in books. I'll think on it, but I'm fairly certain I couldn't come up with anything that really captures it...
