THE ENQUIRIES OF DOCTOR ESTERHAZY is an amazing book, as is THE RED TENT. I'm not familiar with the other picks, but they all sound good.

I loved MEMOIRS OF AN INVISIBLE MAN. I read it many years ago and had forgotten about it. It's a great read.

I happened to read it during a time when I kept track of what I read and rated it (oh, I was organized then) and rated it the top book I read that year. The movie did cast a pall on it unfortunately.

Chevy Chase seems to kill almost any role he's in. He almost ruined FLETCH for me, too.

Amen. SNL has not bred all that many first-rate actors.

I heartily endorse RUN...it's a crime that Douglas Winter's novel might even be considerable as endangered...and I was drawn to Saint's MEMOIRS by its vibe, quite aside from it being a sf novel not so marketed...it somehow Looked Interesting. While I would've gotten to Bill Pronzini's SPADEWORK and Elizabeth Hand's GENERATION LOSS eventually on my own, the others maybe not so much, so the pointers are much appreciated!

I am amazed at how many of these I have not heard of. Nice to go off with a new list in hand. r2, how about one from you next time?

Oh, you'll get a title from me. In fact, I might recommend a series.

I would be happy to play. I'm not sure of the rules. Do you just review your favorite forgotten book on your blog?

pattinase (abbott) said...

R2-Yes just post a book you want people to remember with a short review or explanation of why you like it on your blog. Then give me the link to your blog and I'll post it. If you look at last Friday on my blog, you can see the links. Thanks for playing.
