FOR THOSE SEEKING A SHORT, CHARMING BOOK: THE RED NOTEBOOK

Oh, if every book was only as charming as this one. Set in Paris, a book shop owner finds a handbag and sets out to find its owner using clues from the items found in the bag. If I told you more, I would lessen your pleasure. Short, sweet, perfect for an hour or two's read. Have you read a charming book recently?

Thanks, Patti. I wasn't familiar with this one; I'll have to check it out.

I don't read many "charming" books, but as chance would have it, the current book I'm reading--SENIOR MOMENTS: LOOKING BACK, LOOKING AHEAD--has plenty of charm. Willard Spiegelman's memoir is both funny and wistful.

I think Diane would like this one, George.
BTW In my book group, no one disliked A GENTLEMAN FROM MOSCOW but only one woman loved it, and she said it was the best book she'd ever read.

I can't remember the last "charming" book I've read. Sad.

Thanks, Patti - I could use a breezy read right now.

This is bound to evoke a smile.

OK, my library had it on the shelf so I took it out.

The closest I have come lately to a charming book is THEIR FINEST (in the UK, THEIR FINEST HOUR AND A HALF), but it is set during WWII, the Blitz, so it is not all fun.

Tracy, we just watched the movie adaptation of THEIR FINEST, which was pretty good.

Jeffrey, We have watched it also, and I enjoyed it. But I liked the book better. I liked some of the subplots in the book that they jettisoned in the movie.

I'm going to read the book too.

This sounds like something that I would probably like as a change in pace from my normal stuff. I do like to branch out on occassion

OK, I’ll try it, simple, charming, warming, positive, happy...those are all good things for me.

The library has it, I've requested a hold. Thanks for the tip.
