Things That Made Me Happy

THE SALESMAN is a terrific Iranian film by the director who made THE SEPARATION and ELLE.
It had a big twist 2/3 of the way through which should entice genre lovers. So happy to have access to foreign films.

Tai Chi which I am absolutely rotten at but it makes my back feel great. And love the women who struggle through it with me: Lainie, Suzie, Betty, Mary Ellen.

Yonana is my new machine that makes a delicious sorbet- like dessert using only frozen fruit. The magic is in the frozen but ripe bananas It is easy and only has the calories of whatever fruit you choose.

ABSTRACT is a new show on Netflix, which highlight artists across fields who create amazing art including shoes!

Ann Patchett has always been a favorite of mine since BEL CANTO. This is her latest, which I am enjoying.

So happy to open the windows today. I know it is a sign of just how horrible the climate is but....

After a big bottleneck in my work that was at least partially not of my own making, I'm about get caught up. Or a normal amount behind again, anyway.

It was 50 degrees in Buffalo yesterday and there's not a speck of snow to be seen. Not a Normal February! Diane's book club read Ann Patchett's COMMONWEALTH and enjoyed it. We opened our windows, too!

And to think I have not seen it once, Steve.
No snow either, George. It was in the sixties here the last two days.
James-I may have written my last word. Just can't get back to it. Phil's illness and the election have derailed me.

I like this week's list! Glad the tai chi is helping.

Just another (mostly) beautiful week of 70s and 80s and sunshine in Southern Florida.

We had a great lunch with my cousin and his wife at a seafood place in Jupiter, and terrific barbecue on Monday.

Also saw LA LA LAND, which Jackie loved (except for the ending) and I grew to like.

Reading, more stories, more downloads.

Mostly, Jackie's pneumonia is gone and the coughing has ended.

Our new maybe-it's-a-dog-maybe-it's-a-rat is becoming more acclimated to us and has decided the best place to sleep is on the sofa, either beside Kitty or me

The posting at 7:40 is not by me. It would be ridiculous to watch any movie that many times, esp that one.

I think you need an alias, Steve.

I was going to suggest that it was obviously not Steve.

Here's stuff that I loved the past few days...Lush perfume Kerbside Violets, Modest Mouse song Lampshades on Fire, gather up some kids and read aloud Kara LaReau's The Unintentional Adventures of the Bland Sisters: The Jolly Regina, fab illustrations by Jen Hill. You will love the two sisters from Dullsville.
Have a great week!

I am very naive, I guess. I can always imagine anyone saying anything.
Thanks, Nancy!

- Enjoyed the jigsaw puzzle we finished last week, enough that we've started another (harder) one.
- Weather note: 5th wettest February on record, and it will rain the rest of the week. No open windows here.
- Barbara's quilt group meets today (every other Monday), and she enjoys it so much.
- I'm really enjoying reading lots of short stories this month.

It's good just to wake up every morning!

Rick, it's been very dry here in So. Florida, which is fine for us but bad for wildfires in the area. They have only had 1 inch of rain this year and 3 inches since November.

The warm weather has allowed me to exercise the dog on walks.

Boy #2 is finishing Cub Scouts and a final task was to join the Boy Scout Troop, including Boy #1, on an outing. There was a lot of grumbling by Boy #2 during a short two mile hike/walk. After reaching the Troop's campsite the Cub Scouts were supposed to either help with gathering fire wood in the wet woods or help construct that evening's shelter. Boy #2 grumbled.

After Boy #2 was back at home Boy #1 and I stayed the evening. I brought along a sleeping bag rated to 55 degrees but the temperature that night dropped down to 39. After turning in early I tried to endure the cold but gave up, drove home, grabbed a warmer sleeping bag, sat around at home for awhile, and drove back.

After getting lost in the dark woods on a failed short cut I backtracked, took the actual trail, and went to sleep at the campsite. The morning was a bit better and someone brought coffee.

It makes me happy that you and your boys are living a life not dissimilar to what used to be. But be careful!

Dry weather for two more weeks, Jeff. If you want to drive to the Keys we'd love to see you.
