Directed by Lalle Hallstrom, starring Johnny Depp, Leonardo DiCaprio, Juliette Lewis and perhaps none of them ever topped their performance in this film. Based on a novel by Peter Hedges, it manages to be both sad and joyful in equal terms. The quintessential Hallstrom movie.

I remember Leo as giving an amazing performance, the one thing that I really remember at this late date.
I've never liked Juliette Lewis.

This was one of her better performances.
Saw this in the theater. This movie gives small-town kids the creeps. It's a situation that is all too possible.
I think it gives everyone the creeps.
I love quirky movies like WHAT'S EATING GILBERT GRAPE. Jeff is right about Leo's amazing performance.
So NOT my kind of movie, dear heart. :)
But I'd never seen the trailer before. So thanks for that. Great cast.
Never saw it. I think the title put me off, among other things.
