SAY SOMETHING GOOD ABOUT DETROIT: THE GAR

RENOVATING THE GAR- (From MODEL D)

One of Detroit’s most beloved boarded-up buildings, the Grand Army of the Republic building, or simply "the G.A.R." as it's often called, is being renovated. For as long as most can likely remember, the flatiron-shaped building sat, nobly vacant, on a small, triangular lot at the intersection of Grand River and Cass avenues -- a silent sentinel guarding the northwestern edge of the central business district. For more information, click the link above. But this building has haunted driversby for as long as I have lived here.

Patti - Oh, what an interesting-looking building!! You can tell just from glancing at it that it's got a lot of history.

There's a lot a media buzz about LOW WINTER SUN, the AMC series that starts next Sunday. It's set in Detroit.
