In my rotatation right now: What I Wrote by Belle and Sebastian The Age of Adz by Sufjan Stevens Grinderman 2 by Grinderman(Nick Cave side project) National Ransom by Elvis Costello
my rotation at the moment consists of two Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Sky Is Crying and The Best of..., along with Les Baxter's Panic In Year Zero. I ripped them to my computer's music file so I could listen while working.
I just downloaded a bunch of free songs from Amazon. Love "The Sweetest Thing" by JJ Grey & Mofro, "Teenage Heartbreak" by The Sorrows, "Meet Again" by Secret Twins, and "Young and In Love" by The Madison Square Gardeners.
My kids claim I never listen to any music created after 1987, which isn't exactly true, but the oldies do it for me every time. Right now I have Mary Hopkin's "Temma Harbour" on heavy rotation.
WINDWALKERS (James Horner) EXPERIMENT IN TERROR (Henry Mancini) BATTLE CRY (Max Steiner) THE FLAME AND THE ARROW (Max Seiner) RED DAWN (Basil Poledouris 500 NATIONS (Peter Buffett).
You may have heard at least one thing by Les Baxter, in my review here: http://wp.me/pCGOo-LE
Unless I'm missing something My Heart Cries For You goes back to the 1950s with singers such as Guy Mitchell, Dean Martin and Connie Francis. Elvis even had a version. What's the connection to Hair?
As for me I'm playing Jimmy Buffett, Gram Parsons, Asleep at the Wheel and Nancy Lamott.
They are both on that CD but I couldn't get a performance of her doing MY HEART CRIES FOR YOU. She does a dynamite job with it. Love Gram Parsons. Terrific.

Good cover of that '69 oldie by Oliver. Wasn't that originally a song from the stage play Hair? Thanks, patti.
It sure was and it takes me back.

Stevens seems to show up regularly. I have two of his earlier CDS and need to look for some newer ones.

Don't know Baxter at all. Have to check him out.
In the car: LIKE MINDS, Chick Corea and Gary Burton
In the kitchen: THE LOOK OF LOVE, Diana Krall
Sorry, no country and western today...
Hard to beat Diana Krall.
You'll know at least some of Baxter, from all the films he's scored (though a lot of those were Roger Corman's less distinguished items).
I finally purchased my own copy of FRESH CREAM for a few bucks the other day.
Charlie Parker, Son House, Luella Miller, Mary Johnson (1920s) and Bessie Smith. I also keep hearing Johnny Cash everywhere I go, it seems like.

I never knew there was free music to download. You guys are all too cool for me. Bessie Smith-love her.

I'm listening to Bruno Mars' DOO-WOPS & HOOLIGANS. "Grenade" is amazing!
Especially hard to beat Diana Krall when Peter Erskine is behind the drums ... that man can play some drums.
Been listening just lately to Type O Negative and Monster Magnet.
"If you wanna spank your demons and make 'em pay, then I'm your man of the hour."
soundtracks, all received yesterday for b'day:
WINDWALKERS (James Horner)
EXPERIMENT IN TERROR (Henry Mancini)
BATTLE CRY (Max Steiner)
THE FLAME AND THE ARROW (Max Seiner)
RED DAWN (Basil Poledouris
500 NATIONS (Peter Buffett).

Oops, a typo, The Name of that first one is WINDWALKERS (not Windtalkers).
shoot. correct is WINDTALKERS. Sheesh, I think I'll go back to bed...
Mostly wayback machine stuff. Roky Erickson and the 13th Floor Elevators for today...
I am so uncool. I need some tutoring in coolness. My husband plays classical music all day and it's ruining my ears for anything else.
I think you're cool. No, I KNOW you're cool.
P.S. nothing wrong with classical music (or soundtracks)...
Nothing wrong indeed. I just like to keep my spoon in all the bowls although it gets increasingly harder.

Kent, it's "Good Morning Star-shine" that's from Hair. I saw it at the Aquarius Theater in Hollywood on it's first run there. A vivid memory.
