A MEME

Woman reading by Mary Cassatt.

I've been memed by Brian Lindenmuth and here's the challenge. List the writers you've read that were new to you this year. Bold the ones that were debut authors in 2008. Tag some people.

I'm interpreting "new to you" to mean the first book by that author I've read, not someone I'd never heard of. I hope that's right. There were lots of other good books this year but all from authors I've read before.

No Time for Goodbye, Linwood Barclay
The Paperboy, Pete Dexter
Brick Lane, Monica Ali
The Bottoms, Joe Lansdale
Robbie's Wife, Russell Hill
Shattered, Richard Neely
Dust Devils, James Reasoner
Four Corners of the Night, Craig Holden
I Am Legend, Richard Matheson
Out Stealing Horses, Ped Pedderson
Dawn Patrol, Don Winslow
Loving Frank, Nancy Horan
Small Crimes, Dave Zeltserman
House of Happy Endings, Leslie Garis
Go With Me, Castle Freeman

Please forgive me for tagging but it's part of the game. So I tag: Sandra Ruttan, David Cranmer and Patrick Shaun Bagley. If they want to play, that is.

And anyone who wants to list a few of their 2008 discoveries on here, I'd be glad to hear some names because I'm Christmas shopping at Educators at Borders this week.

I'm taking my mom to the airport in the morning, and the kids have the afternoon off school tomorrow...

But I will promise something for Friday. And it will be a confessional of sorts.

I'm on tenderhooks.

That's a great idea but I don't know if I could go back and locate all the "new" authors I've read this year. I don't tend to keep my records that way.

Patti,

Do you need a picture book for a 4-8 year old? My discovery this year is Brian Lies, and I LOVED his book Bats at the Library. Check his website at www.brianlies.com to see a picture from the book. Fun, gorgeous, hidden items. I'm reviewing it Sunday for Sunday Salon as my favorite picture book of the year.

Charles-I just started doing it a few years ago because I was forgetting too many books I'd read.
Lesa-Sounds perfect for my grandson. I'm on it.

Patti,

I just put mine up, though I'm sure it's incomplete.
