Top Reasons Why I Liked Mama Mia

Top Reasons Why I Liked Mama Mia

  1. 1. I like movies where people seem to find the women (over 50) attractive.
  2. 2. I like movies that feature women (over 50) in dominant roles.
  3. I like movies set in scenic spots—like Greece.
  4. I like movies where women (over 50) run, jump, dance and laugh hysterically.
  5. I like Meryl Streep—in anything.
  6. I like Colin Firth—in nothing (clothes, that is).
  7. I like musicals and there are very few each year.
  8. I like movies where people seem to be having a good time. Even if it’s feigned, I’m easy to fool.
  9. I like movies where it looks like I could sing or dance as well as the stars. I think I could.
  10. 1 like Pierce Brosnan, even more now that he has a little girth to him.
  11. I like ABBA, so kill me. If Mama Mia doesn’t make you feel like dancing, well, you must not be over 50. Or a woman.

I liked it, too, Patti. A couple of my girlfriends actually cried! (Probably anticipating the empty nest!)

I like all of your reasons! I saw a great video from a UK radio show where the host reviews the movie and the bottom line is that, as much as he expected to hate it and try as he did not to like it, he liked it :)

Very heartening that such good folks as these like ABBA. I felt like crying when Meryl ran down that road like she was 25 again.

I love Mama Mia, so I'm in that age group.

ABBA music is always good for memories.

And it reminds me too of Muriel's Wedding. What a great movie that was.

Put me down as an ABBAmaniac, too, but I'll most likely wait for the DVD.

I think it would be more fun on the big screen. Watching them cavort on hills, docks, roofs, etc. is enhanced by a huge screen. Only kidding. It's the music, baby.

It's interesting to discover I'm neither over 50 or a woman.

My housemate, under 50 but a woman, noted yesterday that ABBA were better than the Rolling Stones. This is not the reason I'm moving out. Had she compared the Kinks unfavorably to ABBA, it still would've been, but I would've had an easier time disagreeing.

Now if only the film had Sela Ward in it somewhere...

Well, you're certainly not over 50! I can vouch for that. But it may be you just have good taste.

Where the heck is Sela Ward?

The good news about Sela Ward, post her season on HOUSE...she's in a remake of THE STEPFATHER. The bad news...they hired some neo-slasher scripter to Update Donald Westlake's script.

(She also did a film, THE GUARDIAN, probably a smidge before her turn on HOUSE. Which made House a very lucky bastard indeed.)
