A Little Excitement

From Publisher's Weekly-Page to Screen
Fox 2000 has optioned Megan Abbott’s Dare Me, which was released by Reagan Arthur Books in July. The option was done on behalf of producer Karen Rosenfelt (The Devil Wears Prada), who is currently developing feature adaptations of Marcus Zusak’s The Book Thief and Daniel Handler’s Why We Broke Up. The novel, which explores the dark underside of competitive teenage cheerleading and was pitched by the publisher as “Fight Club for girls,” is being adapted for the screen by Abbott.
Sylvie Rabineau and Jill Gillet at RWSG Literary did the deal on behalf of Dan Conaway at Writers House.

"I used to love trains"

I heard this line in a movie last week and it has resonated in my head ever since. I googled it and it must be the fourth most common sentiment every expressed on blogs because there it's there about 15, 000 times.
I picked up a few autographed copies of THE END OF EVERYTHING by Megan Abbott at the Borders closedown and I am willing to give one away to anyone who can guess where I heard this line. If more than one person (in the U.S.) gets it, I will draw for it.
I am blogging about this movie on the seventeenth, so you have to then to guess.
If no one gets it, I will draw among the wrong guessers. If someone finds another movie with the same line in it, which wouldn't surprise me, they go into the winner's circle too.

END OF EVERYTHING DAY
And I know I will be stressed out over: will people turn out, will we have enough food, will Borders still be there, will Megan's flight from Phoenix be on time, will the books be there, will they have enough chairs, will the map from the store to the party be clear enough, will the three hours sleep she has had be enough, will it be so friggin' hot, none one will venture outside?
Will people show up?
That's always the worst fear for writers and I have seen it happen. Playing to an empty house. Once at our local Borders, a crowd of ten listened to Elmore Leonard. The store only advertised the event inside the store. Of course, Leonard wasn't much bothered and talked for an hour. I love that man.
Oh, and incidentally, thanks to those who came out to hear Megan over the years.
You know how it is. Wish us luck. None of the Abbotts are comfortable in the limelight.
If you have enjoyed a recently written novel, go say so on Amazon. That may be the only place people will learn about books soon. If Amazon is going to be the only place that counts, let's make it count.
