Have you seen this yet? I wasn't expecting to be as moved by it as I was. I thought I'd enjoy the Italian scenery, and enjoy all the sunlight and feel warm as we suffer this arctic weather assailing us in Chicago... I was surprised by the whole thing. Very different than what it was being marketed as, that's for sure. For anyone who remembers their teen years, the mess of puberty and attraction and sexual longing -- male or female-- this is quite a trip down memory lane. I was truly impressed by this movie on so many levels.
Yes, I did see it and liked it very much. What's not to like except maybe too long by 20 minutes. Loved the Dad's speech at the end. Hope he gets a supporting actor nomination. So well acted and gorgeous. And a great acting turn by the kid. Ladybird and this pretty much covered age 17.

You're so right about the father's monologue at the end of the movie. So brilliantly written. I'm interesting in reading the book now.
