We have had so many sunny days this week. So unusual for Detroit this time of year. I am very affected by the lack of sun here so yay!
We celebrated Kevin's 11th birthday yesterday. On Thursday night, the day of his birthday, he went with friends to see an illusionist. Seems to have been a great choice of events. Boy, does he have great parents. They make sure he gets to sample a wide range of cultural and popular events.
My favorite TV shows of 2017 all made me happy.
THE GOOD PLACE, MASTER OF NONE, BETTER THINGS, BETTER CALL SAUL, THE DEUCE, BIG LITTLE LIES, MINDHUNTER, ATLANTA, THE LEFTOVERS, THE FIVE.
What about you?

Western NY has ZERO snow. Very unusual for this time of year.
The Temperatures have been more like October than December.
We have most of our Christmas shopping done. We'll start on the Christmas cards this week.
I bought our tickets for STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI!
Love this mild weather although it drops drastically late tomorrow.
My favorite shows: Better Call Saul, The Deuce, Ray Donovan, Game of Thrones, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Vice Principals, Bill Maher.
We had a great time last night at the Town Hall concert with Steve Earle and the Dukes, the great Emmylou Harris, and Lucinda Williams. It is an annual fundraiser Earle does for The Kedwell School, where his autistic son and others get personal attention every day. This is their third annual.
It was great being able to stay at the Renaissance on 57th Street rather than having to go home last night, especially paying $139 when most Manhattan hotels seem to be $500+. And we just had breakfast in the Concierge Lounge.
Only five weeks until we leave for Florida.
Books and movies list after we get home.
We leave on the 13th. Can't wait. I do miss Ray now that we don't have Showtime.
My left eye is improving rapidly after the cataract surgery Thursday. Now the wait for the right one (just before Christmas).
Christmas lights are up, though not on timers yet. Rest of decorating & such to come, and cards. We both have little energy for the holiday this year, so not sure what we'll do, but even a little will be nice.
So sorry Bill is taking a break from his blog, I've loved it every day - it made me happy.
My wife and I got to go to a tap room in a neighboring town on Saturday night. We don't often get out together.
My Rotary Club had an evening meeting last Tuesday and I ended up staying at the bar and playing trivia. I had a good time.
I've been drafted to help out with Boy Scouts starting in January so I'm glad Boy #2 seems to be enjoying the activities more than he has before.
With the price of babysitters, I don't know how anyone does.
Glad it's improved and Phil says is still improving 6 weeks later.
Happy B-day, Kevin!
No matter how bad things get out there -- and this has been a pretty bad week what with Sandi Tipple's passing, Bill's blog hiatus, and the antics of the Orange Cheeto, our deluded senate, and Judge Moore -- there is always something to be happy about. Such as:
Naps. I love them.
Great weather. It doesn't have to be sunny and warm (although that helps). Today it's overcast and threatening rain but still it's beautiful.
Speaking of beautiful, there are a lot of portfolios like this on the web: https://gizmodo.com/let-these-award-winning-ecology-images-soothe-your-tort-1797980960
They make me feel grateful.
My daughter Jessamyn accidentally locked herself out of her house. Granddaughter Amy, who goes to college nearby, came to her rescue, bringing half her dormitory with her. I love that there's always people to help.
Good books, good shows, hot Italian sausage, and a wonderful wife -- how can I not be happy?
Jerry, I bet your blood pressure is perfect.
Happy birthday to Kevin! He's 11 now?! Wow!
