I agree with Deb. So much loss this year, beginning with Bowie, through Prince and now Montreal's greatest son. An Annus Horribilis leading towards another in which a blowhard and charlatan will be sworn in as President of the United States.
Too sad. Who is else will leave us before Dec 31 comes?
Last night the combined tribute/requiem for Cohen and Clinton with Kate McKinnon singing "Hallelujah" was beyond moving for me and Joe. I really can't stand how that song has been stolen from Cohen and misinterpreted in hundreds of covers by everyone from Jeff Buckley (a cover that Cohen loathed, BTW) to Rufus Wainwright to every wanna-be on those reality singing contests, but I can't imagine a more fitting song for McKinnon to sing in her Clinton persona. None of the lyrics were changed and they fit the circumstances so well. We went to the internet almost immediately to watch it all over again. And I just watched it for the third time now.
Me, too. She was perfect as both Hillary and as a fine singer/pianist paying tribute to Cohen. Heartbreaking. He picked the right time to die if there is one.

He'll be missed. The second best songwriter of our generations. Second only to Dylan, with Tom Waits third.
Another cherished part of both my youth and adult life gone. **sigh**
Maybe Joni Mitchell and Carole King too.
2016 has been Annus Horribilis and we've still got seven weeks to go!

Perfect choice, Patti. RIP...
I really only knew him from his writing, but I went and listened to some of his songs and they are pretty cool. Very interesting voice.
