Incoming:

(Worried about Deb. Hope she checks in)

Did something I almost never do, went out and bought three new books. Paperbacks but still new.
All recommended by people I trust. I am still reading the Hawley book. And Megan sent me a heavily autographed copy of Mississippi Noir, where she has a story called Oxford Girl. Haven't read it  yet.

Medical update: Our surgeon, who called us at nine o'clock last night (giving us hives) says the cancer seems localized and small but he wants Phil to see an urologist before he operates since it is near the bladder. So good news bad news because this will delay the surgery by weeks most probably. We are nervous types anyway. To top it off, someone sideswiped our car and that will  have to go into the shop for five days. Knocked off the mirror too.

Best of luck on the medical appointments. Be positive and keep trucking.

I hate people who do that (the car thing). I had a car smashed behind our building by a guy who drove away. Luckily a guy on a bicycle got his license plate number, but it took months to settle because the owner of the car had died and this was his grandson driving.

I'm sure Phil's news will continue to be positive.

I have MISSISSIPPI NOIR on hold at the library.

Thanks for the update, Patti. Thinking of you and hoping everything goes smoothly. Including with the car repair - what a week!! Hang in there

I've been having trouble posting comments here, but we're fine. However, when we're going to be able to get to Baton Rouge to get the twins moved into their dorms at LSU, that's another story...

I hope this is ultimately good news Patti - all the very best (and yes, great looking books too)

I hate late night phone calls from doctors, too! My urologist just retired so I'm going to a new urologist (I hate to change doctors, too). I don't like cars and driving (I'll be first in line for a GOOGLE car that drives itself) and the accidents that go along with them. Hope the repair is resolved quickly.

So much bad news coming along. Hard to absorb it.

Medical problems and car problems can both be frustrating, Patti. Luckily, the car problem is an easy fix. Phil's medical problem, while serious, also sounds like it can be a comparitively easy fix. It's time to take deep breaths and relax; all shall be well. You have an army of people sending you good thoughts and prayers.

I'm a nervous Nellie when it comes to medical procedures, too. Best wishes to both you and Phil. The car problem -- maddening, frightening, irritating. Hope your new books grant you some escape.

Sorry to be late to read this, but I continue to keep you both in my thoughts. Medical problems are so worrisome.

I'm late, too, Patti, but Tracy's words are much better than mine would have been. I'd focus on the good news. Stay strong.

Thinking of you, hope all will be well soon. Sounds like it might be good news if the damn thing is operable. I don't know why but bad things always seem to happen in bunches. Luckily this week is almost over. Stay strong.
