In other words, comedians that are currently making jokes. Either on TV or in the movies?
For the first time, maybe ever, I find a lot of women funny. The two women on BROAD CITY are funny. Tina Fey, although making too many bad movies, is funny. Amy Poehler and Amy Schumer are funny. Now the rap on all of them might be that they are vulgar. But so are most male comedians so I don't credit that. Although I don't find Lena Dunham as personally funny-she writes funny so that counts for me. Kristen Schaal (LAST MAN OF EARTH) works for me as does Sarah Silverman. Julie Louis Dreyfus is perhaps the best of them all. Also Anna Chlumsky from VEEP.
Sharon Horgan from CATASTROPHE is great. So too Melissa McCarthy,. Ellie Kemper from THE UBREKABLE KIMMY SCHMIDT. There are a lot.
Now supposedly a lot of men don't care for funny woman but I bet you can name currently funny woman.

All your choices are good ones, but I have never found Veep to be funny enough to watch. Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Amy Schumer are funny.

I could tell you who I don't find funny: Kristen Wiig. She totally rubs me the wrong way.
Tina Fey is a very funny writer, but she's better suited for tv. You're right about her movie career--she doesn't seem to be able to get it off the ground.
I don't get Lena Dunham, but since I'm old enough to be her mother, perhaps it's a case of "stay off my lawn!"
Love Melissa McCarthy and Chelsea Peretti (stand-up comedienne). I'm kinda indifferent about Amy Schumer. I feel that I should like her more than I do because she's broken down doors, etc.
I get what you're saying about Amy S. I was surprised I didn't like TRAINWRECK more. Maybe it was all the basketball plotline.
All of your choices, plus Whitney Cummings, Nikki Glaser, Wanda Sykes.
Samantha Bee was really good on "The Daily Show", and her new TBS series "Full Frontal" had a very impressive debut this week.
I never know the names of actors but I'm enjoying the whole cast of Life in Pieces. All the women are quite good, although I particularly like the one who in the show is married to the son of the "BIG" actor who was also in Apollo 13 and Castaway. Oh yes, I remember his name, Tom Hanks.
Yes, the women on BIG BANG are great. Especially Mayim Bahlik (Sp?)Big article about Samantha Bee in NYT today. Have to catch that. Have never seen LIFE IN PIECES. Will have to catch up with that one.
Oh I don't know Glaser, Al. Will look for her. Wanda is very, very good and doesn't get enough parts.
I obviously live under a large rock. Except the ones who hosted the Golden Globes, I don't think I've seen any of these people, or I have but don't recognize names. The one in the picture looks familiar.
Tina Fey always makes me laugh. Diane loves THE LAST MAN ON EARTH and JANE THE VIRGIN for the humor.
I think Tina Fey is brilliantly funny, to be honest.
I agree with most of your list except for Lena Dunham - never seen her - and Amy Schumer - she annoys me.
UNBREAKABLE KIMMIE SCHMIDT features amazing work by Jane Krakowski.
Yes, I meant to mention her. She goes undernoticed although I think casting her as the lead might not work.
Wellll...funny women for me go back a ways, from comic actresses like Mae West, Marie Dressler and Rosalind Russell and all the latter's screwball-era peers, on through Tallulah Bankhead and Audrey Meadows in the '50s (and among the pioneer standups then, Jean Carroll and Moms Mabley and suddenly Elaine May). No real lack of good women comedians since, even if there were more men about...
Today's lists of funny women are long indeed, aside from most of the folks already mentioned: Jackie Kashian, Maria Bamford, Janet Varney, Karen Kilgariff, the women of the cast of CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL, Aisha Tyler (WHOSE LINE is more pleasant than great, but it's not her, nor anyone's, best work), Tig Notaro, Jessica Wiliiams on THE DAILY SHOW and the women of THE NIGHTLY SHOW, Richard Moore's friend since she was in swaddling Casey Wilson, the women behind PLAYING HOUSE, Aparna Nancherla, and I could go on for a while.
Laurie Kilmartin is another longterm favorite, and she and Jackie Kashian do a podcast largely about women comedians and their experience, THE JACKIE AND LAURIE SHOW: http://nerdist.com/podcasts/the-jackie-and-laurie-show/
Janet Varney's show isn't solely about comedians, but is mostly about women thinking about their youth and how they were shaped: THE JV CLUB: http://nerdist.com/podcasts/the-jv-club-channel/
