How Do You Feel on Waking?

Clarification: I don't actually experiences nausea, I experience terror. Sorry.

I was watching a trailer for a new documentary called BRIEF ENCOUNTERS. The film maker said he woke every morning feeling sick at his stomach. I have never heard anyone else say this, but I wake every morning feeling sick at my stomach. It's not stomach related--it's non-specific fear, I think. It is not based on bad events ahead or behind me. No matter how great the day might be, I awake feeling sick at my stomach. It disappears after a bit.I've been up fifteen minutes as I type this and it is mostly gone.
I have been told it is a brain chemistry thing but I wonder how common it is.

How do you feel on waking?

Sleepy. My back is stiff. I have to pee. other than that, fine.

It depends, but sometimes I feel anxious. So much to do, so much to do... can't sleep! Then I get up and waste an hour on social media.

Well, if I looked across the mattress at the woman in your photo, I imagine things would be looking up...though I could do worse, I suppose, than the cat Niki who's begging for attention and secondarily for food, nearly every morning...I don't face morning nausea, usually.

Yeah, I get the 'electric shock' thing. A WTF moment, I think the young uns call it. Have done for years though not as much as I used to.

My Dad had it too. He was only able to articulate it as "bad thoughts." For a while, until I got it too, I always wondered if he might come and murder me some night.

I feel good most days. The days I feel anxious are the mornings we're about to leave on a trip, in which case I probably haven't slept well and have a stomach ache or two from everything we need to do. It doesn't go away until we're checked in and through security.

These days with all the hassles involved I feel more and more like just staying at home.

When I worked a traditional job, I often woke up anxious because I was doing two people's jobs and was never, ever caught up. Now that I'm freelance, I have other anxieties. But I was anxious this morning because it's election day. And the feeling hasn't gone away.

I get up at 4:30 on weekdays, so my general morning feeling is, "God, I'm so tired!" I only feel anxious when there's a reason--like this morning, for instance.

I'm with Jeff. I wake up rested and refreshed...unless we have to travel. Then, I usually experience a restless night followed by a day of edginess that doesn't let up until we're safely tucked in our hotel room.

Not related to the time I get up, the day ahead, the day behind. I am thinking my brain is badly calipered.

Tired. Sometimes anxious and the anxiety is usually caused by work.

Election anxiety over the past week.

I'm usually tired because I don't sleep all that well anymore, and my back usually hurts for a while. But mentally I'm fine and ready to get busy on what needs to be done that day.

It takes me an hours to get fully awake, but when I'm ready to crawl out of bed my first thought is, "Noon already?"

My physician tells me that I'd feel like a million bucks every morning if I made a habit of getting into bed latest by 10.30 pm. I tried and it didn't work.

Dana King summed it up for me. I have occasionally awakened to fear but that's usually due to a 3am phone call or doorbell.

I don't feel any kind of fear when waking up. I do often feel somewhat nauseated, which is why I don't generally eat breakfast right away when I get up.

Not physical or biological problems at all -- unless I had some bad food the night before. Routinely I wake up and I want to go right back to sleep. Most people would call this a form of depression or fear of facing the world. I just like the comfort of my bed. And I like to rationalize.

Nope. I would love to go back to sleep but am always jolted awake. I think if you want to sleep at other times, it is depression--not in the morning.

Haven't really thought about this before. I guess I kind of drift into the day over 5 to 10 mins and then either get on with it or go back to sleep. Fear or nausea is rarely, if ever, on the menu.

It has to be a brain chemistry thing. In that case, drugs might be the only solution.

At 71, you start opening your eyes in the pre-dawn dark thinking, "Heck, I'm still here!"

Been thinking that since 25.
