My list of FAVORITE TV SHOWS OF 2020 will be up in a week or so. I still haven't found time to watch THE QUEEN'S GAMBIT. But, I have read the book. Diane is excited about the prospect of watching WONDER WOMAN 1984 on Christmas Day.
We've only watched the first two episodes so far, but I don't doubt THE QUEEN'S GAMBIT will be on my list, along with UNORTHODOX and MY BRILLIANT FRIEND. Could not watch I MAY DESTROY YOU, though I know everyone raved. It just wasn't for us. I might add MOSSAD 101. THE GOOD FIGHT is another, though we haven't seen the latest series. WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS is another. And HIGH MAINTENANCE.
I keep meaning to watch WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS. I saw the first season of the GOOD FIGHT but how many streaming services can I get. I am already getting: PRIME, NETFLIX< ACORN, BRIT BOX and Criterion. PLUS HBO. Of course, I spend no money elsewhere. I loved the first WONDER WOMAN but I hate seeing it on a TV.
We don't get CBS Prime either. The first season of GOOD FIGHT was shown on CBS. We got the second on DVD from the library in Florida, and the third from the library here. I think George has the channel. We have Amazon Prime (and Acorn and Britbox through Amazon), Netflix, HBO and Showtime. It adds something for me that WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS is set in Staten Island, for some reason. Jackie doesn't watch it.
WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS has a lot of women viewers that I know or are aware of...it's definitely not lunkhead Guy Funny along the lines of THE HANGOVER movies. Though I have not been patient enough so far with I MAY DESTROY YOU or particularly MY BRILLIANT FRIEND.
I am glad to be seeing new episodes of SHAMELESS and PENNYWORTH now. Though How Funny it is, the latter, suggesting a UK overrun by fascists with the malign neglect/tacit approval of the US government...hee hee sniffle.
I like the variety of the shows you've chosen, Patti. Glad you've found several to enjoy.

ReplyDeleteThere is a certain kind of humor that eludes me (and maybe a lot of women) and this might be it. But I should try it.

I liked SHAMELESS for a long time. But the story lines just circled back on the same issues once too many times. Plus I gave up SHOWTIME.
ReplyDeleteQueen's Gambit
ReplyDeleteBetter Call Saul
Bosch
Raised By Wolves
Fargo
Dare Me
Perry Mason
Babylon Berlin
Mystery Road
The Good Lord Bird
Curb Your Enthusiasm
There are some shows I have never gotten around to watching such as Schitt's Creek and Shameless
Oh, I should have had CURB on here. And am totally unfamiliar with RAISED BY WOLVES. Will look up. Thanks for including DARE ME, Steve.
ReplyDeleteRaised By Wolves is on HBO MAX. It's a sf series produced by Ridley Scott who also directed a couple of episodes.
ReplyDeleteStill have not figured out how to get hbo max.
ReplyDeleteApparently, if you have HBO, it's free. I shall have to investigate how I get them to realize this.
ReplyDeleteYOUR HONOR, so far, on Showtime, isn't quite good enough to get excited about, but I'm still watching.
ReplyDeleteI have HBO Max but I had to talk to someone at HBO to set it up. It was fairly easy.
